NEW PRESIDENT ELECTED AT ANNUAL MEETING
At the Annual Friends of the Loveland Public Library Foundation Membership Meeting on January 25, 2010, Emma C. Brown was elected President of the organization, replacing George Franke, who served in that position for 6 years. Emma, who is better known as “Gemmy,” moved to Loveland from Florida several years ago and has a long history of working with Friends of the Library groups. She has received numerous awards for her advocacy work with libraries. Please welcome her by volunteering in one (or more) of our projects.
In other action at the annual meeting, those present elected new board member, Jennifer Blythin, whose work experience includes academic library service, and re-elected Art Grotenhuis and Laura Krebill to 3 year terms on the board. The members also approved the 2010 Friends budget and several revisions to the organization’s by-laws. Thanks to Jan Grotenhuis and the Membership Committee for preparing the multiple choice “Muffin Tin Soup Supper.” George Franke closed the meeting with a reflection on how the Friends of the Library evolved in the past 6 years.
