Book Sale Committee thanks you for another successful book sale

We want to express our Congratulations and Sincere Thank You to the wonderful group of volunteers who put the Spring Used Book Sale together and made it such a success!  Over 1,681 boxes of books were pre-sorted and taken to this sale.  We’re excited to tell you that our gross sales was $23,400.00, with 10% going to the Capital Campaign.  After expenses of $2,163.73, we have $18, 896.27 available for future use towards library programs, equipment and our operating expenses.

A Special Thank You to Barbara Franke for her many hours contacting and scheduling all our volunteers.  This is one of the most time consuming activities prior to, and during each book sale.  Without her efforts, we wouldn't know who was coming or who was going.  Thank You again Barb!

Thank You to those who helped with obtaining the rental trucks, loading, transporting, setting up the sale site and unloading all the books. 158 volunteers worked on this book sale, logging over 3,504.25 volunteer hours since our Fall Book Sale in October 2009.  145 volunteers logged  1,227.75  of those hours during the week of set up and sale; 37 who have helped with sorting since the Fall 2009 Book Sale.

Although school was out for the summer, the following 13 students logged 117 hours helping set up, restock, carry out customer purchases and whatever else was asked of them:  Mary A., Samantha and Carter B., Austin and Kendra G., Aiden and Brent H., Daniel and Zack H., Haleigh H., Patrick O'B., Katie S., Mark S. and Amanda and Jacob W..  Thank You for spending part of your summer vacation helping The Friends of the Loveland Public Library.

Thank You to Shari and Jack Wilson who gave us the opportunity to raise some additional monies by soliciting Rotary Duck Race Tickets.  55 tickets were solicited for a profit of $165.00.  Thank you to John Ireland and Barbara Franke for their recruiting efforts, to Rose Anne Wheeler for her decorating and those members who staffed the Duck Race Table.

Thank You to those new members who joined on Preview Night.  Welcome to a wonderful organization whose mission is to support the Loveland Public Library's work as the information center of the community.

Thank You to the Library Staff for collecting donations and spreading the word.

Gratitude is extended to our individual book donors and business friends:  Stephanie and Mark Stauder, of Anthology Book Company, Theresa Bayless, Booklover’s Bookstore LLC and Barbara Haynes, Ruth and Sam Chesher of Book Haven Book Store; all who have donated countless books to make our sale such a success.  Thank You to Anheuser-Busch and the Walmart Distribution Center for supplying our boxes.  Also, Thank You, to the Staff at “The Ranch”-Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex for your attention to our needs.

And last, but not least, Thank You to the many patrons who donated their new and gently used books, and those who came out to support our Spring Used Book Sale.  Without you, we wouldn't be able to raise the monies needed to provide some of the programs and equipment needed at the library.

Fall Used Book Sale, Oct. 23rd & 24th, Members Only Preview Sale Friday, Oct. 22nd, at the Thomas M. McKee 4-H Youth & Community Building, Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex. We hope you found enough books to keep you reading until then.

Now that the sale is behind us, we have resumed sorting on Wednesdays at 1010 West 10th Street from 10 am to 4 pm.
For those of you who haven’t helped in a while, stop by, pick up a book, thumb through it, and “catch” the sorting fever.
