Library Expansion has officially started
On July 1, 2010 The Friends of the Loveland Library hosted the ceremonial groundbreaking for the upcoming expansion and renovation of the Loveland Public Library. Following the hard work by The Friends Capital Campaign over the past 2 1/2 years which thus far has raised $1.4 million, then the construction bids came in 37% lower than projected, all of which gave our City Council the confidence to approve the construction contract with Dohn Construction and our project got the go-ahead!
Representatives from our larger donors, the City of Loveland and The Friends Capital Campaign were the first to start the project on this lovely day with our plastic hard hats in place and ceremonial shovels in hand. Starting from the left we have Ted Schmidt, Library Director, Don Sandoval, Colorado Department of Local Affairs, Mayor Cecil Gutierrez, Bob Eatman, Library Board Director, Doug Erion, Erion Foundation, Lynn Hammond, Kroh Foundation, Rose Anne Wheeler, Co-Chair Friends Capital Campaign and George Franke, Co-Chair Friends Capital Campaign.
The Friends Capital Campaign continues until the end of the 2010 and we hope to be able to reach our $2 million goal. You can help by donating using this website, or you can pick up a donation envelope at the Loveland Library. Congratulations and Thank You to all who have supported our campaign. Together we made this project happen sooner rather than later!
