Adult Book Discussion Groups Update
Due to construction, the Tuesday morning Adult Book Discussion is now meeting in various rooms in the Municipal Building, just across the parking lot from the library. Readers will need to contact the reference desk for the exact location for a specific date. The Tuesday evening meeting and the Wednesday morning meeting will continue to meet in the Gertrude Scott Room and the Library Board Room, respectively – at least for now! Please call the reference desk – 962-2402 – with questions.
For July 6 & 7, we will read Joseph Heller’s classic Catch-22, probably the funniest protest novel ever written!
August is the one month that includes discussion of two different books. On August 3 & 4, participants will discuss The Assistant, by Bernard Malamud, in which a struggling Brooklyn grocery store owner takes in a drifter of questionable character – with unexpected results.
The now traditional potluck picnic and discussion at North Lake Park on August 17 at 6 pm will include food and discussion of Sandra Dallas’ Prayer for Sale which is set in an isolated Colorado mining town in 1936. All participants are invited to bring a dish to share and their own table service and meet at shelter #2 in the park.
